Citizensgov is committed to protecting your Privacy and safeguarding your Personal Information.

We use our Websites to help you learn about our grassroots movement, get involved, make donations, buy merchandise, and stay informed. We operate only in the United States. We do not accept donations or sell merchandise to people located outside the United States.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect Personal Information you may disclose while using our Websites (citizensgov.org, store.citizensgov.org). It also outlines the choices you can make in regards to privacy while using our Websites.

What is Personal Information?

“Personal Information” is information about a particular person that specifically identifies that person, or information about that person, such as their name, address, email address, telephone number, or credit card information.

Personal Information does not include “aggregate information,” which is aggregated, anonymized, or pseudonymized information that does not reference Personal Information. This Privacy Policy does not cover aggregate information.

Visitors to our Websites

Citizensgov operates in the United States and the information we collect is governed by U.S. law.

Children. Our Websites are not directed at children and we will not knowingly collect Personal Information from any child under the age of thirteen (13). If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s access to our Websites, please contact us.

International Visitors. Our Websites are designed for and targeted to U.S. audiences and are governed by and operated in accordance with the laws of the U.S. Citizensgov makes no representation that our Websites are operated in accordance with the laws or regulations of, or governed by, other nations.

How We Collect Personal Information

Direct Collection. We collect Personal Information that you provide to us when you register on our Websites, send us an email, sign up to receive email or text messages, sign up to volunteer, fill out a form, make a purchase or donation, communicate with us through third-party social feeds, request information, participate in active forums or take any other action on our Websites.

Log Data. “Log data” provides aggregate information about the number of visits to different pages on our Websites. We use log data for troubleshooting purposes and to track which pages people visit in order to improve our Websites. We do not link log data collected to Personal Information. Third-party vendors may also collect aggregate log data independently from us. However, we are not responsible for the content or privacy policies of these third-party vendors. We encourage you to read the privacy policies and review the practices of all websites you visit.

Cookies and Related Technology. “Cookies” are small text files stored locally on your computer that help store user preferences. “Web beacons” are small pieces of code or tracking pixels placed on websites used to track access to particular content. We use cookies to facilitate online shopping and other session-based and registration-based activity. We may also use cookies or web beacons to measure aggregate web statistics, including the number of monthly visitors, number of repeat visitors, most popular webpages and other information. Cookies do not contain any Personal Information and we will never track your Internet usage outside of our Websites.

Google Analytics. We do not use Google Analytics to track how people access and use our Websites. Google is one of the biggest violators of internet privacy on the planet.

Email Privacy. We do not use embedded images or other tracking methods in emails to track open rates, link clicks, or any other information.

How We Use Personal Information

We only use Personal Information in connection with our grassroots campaign to bring a new democracy to America:

  • Provide information or merchandise that you request, and to process and complete such transactions;
  • Respond to your emails, requests, comments, submissions, and questions, and provide customer service, request feedback, and otherwise communicate with you regarding your use of our Websites;
  • Connect you to Citizensgov community organizing, events, and activities, and to solicit donations, support, and volunteers;
  • To communicate with you, including through newsletters and email notifications. We want to communicate with you only if you want to hear from us. We try to keep emails to a minimum and give you the ability to opt in or opt out of any communications we send.

How We Share Personal Information

We only share Personal Information as follows:

  • With vendors, service providers, consultants, employees, contractors, or volunteers who need to know such information to carry out their duties;
  • To comply with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and lawful subpoenas, and to enforce this Privacy Policy;
  • To protect the rights or property or safety of our volunteers, supporters, employees, or others;
  • With your consent.

In the event of a dissolution, merger, or bankruptcy, Citizensgov may transfer your Personal Information to a separate entity. In that case you will be given two weeks notice before the transfer to opt out.

How We Protect Personal Information

Citizensgov uses industry-standard security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, theft, unauthorized access, destruction or alteration of the information under our control. Although we make good faith efforts to store information collected by our Websites in a secure operating environment, we cannot guarantee complete security.

We will never sell access to Personal Information, or work with any service provider who might sell access to Personal Information or otherwise violate our commitment to protecting your Privacy and safeguarding your Personal Information.

We will retain your Personal Information only as long as required to provide you with services via our Websites, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect our legal rights.

How to Unsubscribe or Opt Out

We may send information about our grassroots movement and solicitations to our supporters by regular mail, email, or text message. You may opt out of receiving future information via email by using the unsubscribe procedure specified on the email message. You may also contact us at hello@citizensgov.org if you no longer wish to receive communications regarding Citizensgov or our Websites. If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as those about your use of our Websites.

Rejecting Cookies / Do Not Track

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. If you choose to reject all cookies, you may be unable to use certain features of our Websites.

Some browsers have incorporated “Do Not Track” features. Most of these features, when turned on, send a signal or preference to the website or online service that a user visits, indicating that the user does not wish to be tracked. At this time, we do not alter our Websites data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

Third Party Websites

Our Websites may contain links to third party websites. Except as expressly stated otherwise by Citizensgov, we do not review the privacy practices of other websites, and we recommend that you review their privacy policies and your privacy settings before sharing your Personal Information. We do not have control over third party websites and are not responsible for their privacy policies or practices.

Citizensgov may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time, so we encourage you to check this page when revisiting our Websites to make sure that you are informed of how your Personal Information will be used. We will post notice of any changes by revising the date last updated on the Privacy Policy.
